Theatre: Whitehaven Theatre Group presents Stags & Hens - The Remix

Whitehaven Theatre Group present a reworked, up-to-date version of Willy Russell's 1978 play about stags and hens meeting up in a club, which was overhauled after its 30th anniversary.

The action takes place in the gents' and ladies' loos of a tacky Liverpool club, Bransky's, where Dave and Linda (bride and groom-to-be) have decided, unbeknown to each other, to hold their stag and hen parties.

Linda runs into her old boyfriend, Peter, a musician with a single climbing up the pop charts, but who is back in Liverpool on this particular night - playing at Bransky's.

While entering the club, Dave, in a drunken stupor, becomes ill from the curry he ate - washed down with a copious mix of cider and Guinness - and spends the remainder of the evening (and the play) in the gents' toilets with his head down the lavatory bowl!

His mates, including Kas, and gang leader Eddie decide to take the law into their own hands when they suspect that Linda has developed a crush on Peter and may be having second thoughts about marrying Dave.

Expect lots of laughs with this latest show from Whitehaven Theatre Group. Willy Russell's "remix" of his original play has quickened the pace, added new lines and a lot more swearing, but kept the storyline and the period intact. We're sure much of the subject matter will resonate with most people!

The cast is Linda - Siobhan O'Donnell, Carol - Rachel Denwood, Frances - Jojo Morgan, Bernadette - Lisa Buchanan, Maureen - Sarah Blaney, Dave - TBC, Robbie - Shaun Donald, Kav - Simon Armstrong, Billy - Marc Goodwin, Eddy - Stuart Buchanan, Peter - Alex Clark, Roadie - James Ridehalgh.

This production is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French Ltd, a Concord Theatrical Company.
