A virtual Burns Night celebration

Glen and Anna Cunningham present a special Burns Night celebration.

Scottish tenor Glen, one of Rosehill's featured artists, was unable to make his scheduled visit to us for Burns Night this year due to coronavirus restrictions. Instead, he and wife Anna, a fellow Scot, put together a video from their current home in the Netherlands for us to enjoy their personal selection of Scottish song and verse across the miles.

Glen recently joined other 'house favourites' in our Merry Christmas from Rosehill video when pandemic restrictions meant we were unable to present our usual festive concert and sing-along in the theatre. We know that lots of you appreciated it, thanks to the many wonderful responses we received.

So we were delighted when Glen agreed to produce his own virtual celebration of the poet Robert Burns to share with Rosehill's audience.

Accompanied by pianist Hans Schellevis, Glen performs many of the songs that would have been on the programme had our Burns Night event gone ahead. And Anna offers her own special contribution through violin music and verse.

The couple even made sure to feature plenty of souvenirs of their homeland!

'Rabbie' Burns wrote Address to a Haggis in appreciation of the savoury pudding, and each year, on or around 25 January, Burns suppers are held to commemorate his birthday and his work.

Traditionally, the address is given as the haggis is served. If you're having a Burns supper at home this year and want to have a go at reciting the words, download our handy sheet by clicking on this link!

We thank Glen, Anna and Hans for their virtual Burns Night celebration, produced in line with their local Covid-19 restrictions.

We hope you'll join us in a wee dram - or whatever tipple you choose - and enjoy this special performance, with our compliments, from the comfort and safety of your home.

A TRUE HIDDEN GEM

Absolutely fantastic food is served here, with a constantly changing menu.

Served by attentive and friendly staff in a beautiful environment and location.

I can not recommend this place enough, it's a must try if you enjoy good food at a very reasonable price.
