Taking Part: Schools Sing

Schools Sing will provide the opportunity for schools to learn a variety of repertoire, including music from the famous Friday Afternoon Songs, and perform alongside professional musicians and other schools in a community concert. The workshops are for keystage 2 and will be fun, engaging sessions, designed to introduce students to new musical experiences and ignite a love of singing.

Working with the country’s finest emerging vocal leaders, each school will have a series of 4 workshops, teaching the students to learn new songs and develop their performing confidence. The workshops will culminate in a Schools Sing concert at the Rosehill.

Between the weekly sessions, teachers are encouraged to practise the songs with their classes. We are looking for a teacher from each school to lead these rehearsals, and we are offering a CPD session to introduce you to the resources and repertoire.

After the workshop sessions, students will have the chance to join Rosehill Children’s Choir, which will be resident at Rosehill from September 2017.

The Schools Sing model consists of:

  • 1 x CPD session introducing repertoire, Friday Afternoon’s project and resources
  • Resources and instructions to aide learning
  • 4 x workshop sessions led by visiting leaders
  • 1 x concert by participating schools and artists at Rosehill to an audience of family and friends
  • Arts Award at Discover level
