Taking Part: Everyday Portraits

The Hidden Stories Shared Lives project is bringing the Everyday Life Portraits art exhibition to Rosehill Theatre! January 8th to 25th.

The stories behind migration to Cumbria are being explored in an exhibition at Rosehill Theatre.

The public will be able to visit the Everyday Life Portraits art exhibition whenever the theatre is open, to learn about what caused people to leave the place they were born and how they arrived in Cumbria, revealing how varied Cumbria’s population really is, how many of us get on with our daily lives with our stories of migration hidden and how these stories are relevant in the ever-changing political and social nature of both our county and our place in the world.

The exhibition is being put together as part of the Hidden Stories Shared Lives oral history project by Cumbrian artist Jane Dudman, who has developed close relationships with a number of the project's contributors who chose to share their story of migration; the exhibition will represent their stories through photos and interactive artefacts..

Whether you're here for lunch or dinner, coming to Rosehill for a performance or making a special journey to see this exhibition, it offers a fascinating insight into the complex makeup of our county's population.

Read the press release for the exhibition. We are grateful to the Heritage Lottery Fund for financing this project.
