Music: Adrian Brendel & Tim Horton

We are delighted to welcome back Adrian Brendel performing this time with Tim Horton on piano when their programme will be Beethoven Sonata Op 5. No. 1 in F major, Stravinsky Suite Italienne, Martinu Slovak Variations and Rachmaninoff Sonata Op. 19 in G minor.

Adrian Brendel studied at Cambridge  University and with Frans Helmerson at the Cologne music conservatoire, performing regularly throughout the UK and abroad including Aldeburgh, Cheltenham and Oxford festivals. He has a regular duo with Tim Horton, notably at the Plush Festival in Dorset and has worked frequently with other musicians including Imogen Cooper and Paul Lewis.

His close musical relationship with his father Alfred Brendel led to many chamber music appearances culminating in much heralded performances and a Philip's recording of Beethoven's complete music for cello and piano.

Tim Horton studied at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester and graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge. In 1995 he was asked at short notice to replace Alfred Brendel in two performances of Schoenberg's Piano Concerto performing since with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group among others.

In 2005 Tim was chosen as the scholar  of the Klavier Festival Ruhr at the recommendation of Alfred Brendel. He has performed with many chamber musicians including Paul Lewis and the Elias String Quartet.
