An evening with Keith Lodwick
of the Victoria and Albert Museum

Following Thomas Messel’s enlightening and entertaining talk in September on the life and work of Oliver Messel, Keith Lodwick of the Victoria and Albert Museum will give an illustrated talk concentrating on Messel’s film design career, including his work on the film versions of three classic stage plays, Alexander Pushkin’s The Queen of Spades, Bernard Shaw’s Caesar and Cleopatra and Tennessee Williams’ Suddenly, Last Summer. Keith is the V&A’s specialist on Oliver Messel and was very much involved in their recent long term loan to Rosehill of a significant collection of his stage and costume designs. His talk will include an introduction to the Theatre and Performance Department at the V&A and a fascinating insight to the curating of a film costume exhibition with which he is currently very much involved, opening 2012. His talk will end with supper. Two of these films, Caesar and Cleopatra and Suddenly, Last Summer will be screened the following the week – see below.
